Mahi Time - Novel Study T1 2019

This term we have been reading the novel The Recruit by Robert Muchamore and completing a class novel study. It has been great to see students enjoying the novel and being engaged with their novel study work.

Attitude Presentation

Today we were lucky enough to have Emma from Attitude speak to us at school. We went to two presentations, one was 'Tackling Technology' and the other was 'Friendship Factor'. These were super informative and very entertaining.

Year 7 Trek 2019

What a great day we had yesterday on our trek at the Port Hills. We walked up Kennedy's Bush Track, across Crater Rim and down Harry Ell track ending at Victoria park.

Awesome effort by all the year 7's.

Holly's Casebrook Challenge T1 2019

Nothing better than some delicious chocolate cake to brighten up our Monday. Thank you Holly for bringing in some baking as a Casebrook Challenge to share with the class.

Golden Beacon Cup - Capture the Flag 2019

This term each Tuesday afternoon the Year 7 classes have been going head to head in hope of winning the prestigious Golden Beacon Cup. Last week we finished our first sport competition Capture the Flag. We look forward to finding out who will be the first class to get their hands on the cup.

Friday Good Vibes - Week 6 T1 2019

Finished Name Art 2019

Teamwork

As part of our school-wide Inquiry around the concept of relationships we have been focussing on teamwork. This week we have been looking at what team work looks like and sounds like, particularly in Room 9.

We worked in groups and researched quotes about teamwork, we then had to present our quote with an image of our group acting out the quote. Here are the final outcomes.

Invasion Games - Week 6 T1 2019

Today we started our PE unit based around Invasion Games. We focussed on sending and receiving skills through the game Matt Ball.

Olie's Casebrook Challenge T1 2019

Today we were lucky enough to enjoy some delicious banana cake that was made by Olie as part of his Casebrook Challenge.

Year 7 Assembly Awards - Week 6 T1 2019

Well done to the following students who received an award at our Year 7 Assembly for going 'above and beyond'.

Boraq - for completing his novel study activities to a high standard.

Shahanah - for giving everything a go even when she had a broken arm.

Also at our assembly we had our 'Chocolate for Champs' draw. 'Chocolate for Champs' is when students nominate other students who have gone out of their way to do something great.

Well done to Dylan who was drawn out as one of our five 'Chocolate for Champs'. He was nominated for doing a great job running the sports shed.

Student Leaders 2019

Introducing Room 9's Student Leaders for 2019 - Dan McPherson (Deputy Student Leader) and Ash Peters (Student Leader).

These two will REPresent Room 9 on the student council and we know they'll do an awesome job.

First Softball Session T1 2019

Today Room 9 and Room 10 had their first softball session run by Canterbury Softball. Today we learnt how to pass and catch a softball correctly. We will be having softball lessons for the next five weeks.
