Civilisations - AT2 Inquiry

This academic term our school-wide Inquiry has been based around Civilisations. We have been learning about different aspects of ancient civilisations and what characteristics are needed for a group of people to develop into an advanced and sustainable civilisation. We used our learnings from these ancient civilisations to help create our own.

To present our civilisations, students created a tourism brochure and a podcast. These can be found on Seesaw.

Check out the virtual tour video from our Inquiry celebration on Friday.

Mātuaranga - AT1 Inquiry

This academic term our school-wide Inquiry has been based around Mātauranga. We have been learning about the history of the voyagers in the Pacific and all the stories of how our Polynesian ancestors navigated the Pacific to migrate to Aotearoa, New Zealand.

Check out the virtual tour video from our Inquiry celebration on Friday.

Room 1 and 2 were lucky enough to have access to the Tech spaces to complete our Inquiry projects. We had students working in the Foods, Digi and Hard Materials rooms during this Inquiry. Here are some photos of the amazing projects our students created!

Set up your Startup - Inquiry AT2 2023

This academic term our school-wide Inquiry unit was Setup your Startup. Students have worked in groups to design a business. They had to think about how their business shows innovation and changes the world for the better. Groups created a business plan and learnt how to market their product to a target audience. Their products were presented at a school-wide expo where community members viewed their product and business plan.

Whakawhanaungatanga - Inquiry AT1 2023

This academic term our school-wide Inquiry has been based around Whakawhanaungatanga. Through this unit students had to create a piece of art that tells a story of relationships, kinship, a sense of family connection, friendship or reciprocal relationship - a relationship through shared experiences and working together which provides people with a sense of belonging.

Here is a video overview of all the great learning that happened school-wide during this unit.

Room 13's final art project brings together all of the learning that was completed throughout this unit. Our art was inspired by New Zealand artist Joanne Webber, who was known for her Kiwiana art work. The art has four main aspects – the huia bird, the symbols, the tukutuku panels and the students name.

Name Art

Check out the awesome name art that we have did last term as part of our Whakawhanaungatanga Inquiry. We were focussing on being creative with the way we use lines to represent our name, as well as using contrasting colours to make our art stand out.
